Yuwie and Spyware, Adware, and Viruses

I think this topic deserves a thread of its own:

I've belonged to Yuwie for three days and am just as gung-ho as everyone else for the opportunity to tell everyone about BigCrumbs. I've set up a Yuwie Profile, started a club and joined some clubs. I've gotten two referrals so far for BigCrumbs, although I think they only joined in the hope that I would join something of theirs (that's pointless, because BigCrumbs doesn't need people who aren't interested).

Since the first minute I logged on to Yuwie, I was inundated with attempted downloads of viruses, spyware, and adware. I have an antivirus program that detect some of these things to some extent when they try to download themselves (although a lot get through without detection). In the three days since I joined Yuwie, I've had over FIFTY attempts to download malware! It's almost constant.

As a test, I just rebooted my computer, ran all of my detection programs, and they declared that my computer was CLEAN and FREE of adware, spyware and viruses. I then went into Yuwie and played around for awhile (all the time having my detection programs tell me that something was trying to dowload itself). I successfully blocked the downloads that were detected.

I then closed Yuwie and ran my detection programs to see if my computer had any bad stuff on it. It found 42 new cases of ADWARE and SPYWARE on my computer! They had names such as CasaleMedia, AdRevolver, Advertising.com, AffiliateFuel, BurstMedia, DoubleClick, FastClick, GoClick, MediaPlex, Statcounter, TagASaurus, Virtumonde, Yazze, Zedo...........the list goes on and on.

The idea behind Yuwie is great (I think), but can't they put a stop to this nonsense. I don't feel comfortable utilizing a site that allows such things. And I think that, with their new affiliation with BigCrumbs, they'll give BigCrumbs a bad reputation, too.

Any BigCrumber who uses Yuwie and doesn't have an antivirus program on their computer should install one immediately. There's a very good free program called AVG Antivirus (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/). It's the one that I use. Anti Spyware and anti-adware programs include Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware (although I've just found out that Ad-Aware is no longer supporting its free version -- I'm looking for a replacement).
